It’s hard to believe our first meeting was two weeks ago. Although time went by slowly with the power outage it is hard to believe how much time has passed since then.
Our first meetings went off without a hitch! The Young Sibs had a great time with their parents talking about the program for the upcoming year. We ate pizza and candy, played some games and filled out paperwork. The Teen Sibs met with their parents briefly at the beginning of their meeting. After the parents left, it was right into the chat time and catching up with old friends. We even had some new faces at the meeting.
Our next meetings are coming up this week. The Teens will meet on Friday November 11th from 6:30 to 9:00. The Young Sibs will meet on Saturday November 12th from 3:30 to 5:30. We can’t wait to see you all there!
SIBS NH will be hosting a Holiday Vendor Fair on Saturday December 3rd at First Baptist Church in Nashua, NH. Come start your holiday shopping with great products from Thirty-One, Usbourne Books, Scentsy, Tupperware, Pampered Chef and many more!
If you are a vendor and interested in a table, please see the attached and contact Kaleigh or Karin at kaleigh@sibs-nh.com or karin@sibs-nh.com
Our first meeting of the year will be on Saturday October 29th!
The Young Sibs (grade 1-6) will meet from 11:00-1:00. A parent is required to stay for the first meeting as we will be talking about the plans for the upcoming year! Lunch will be provided for this meeting. Please RSVP so we can be sure to have enough yummy food.
The Teen Sibs (grades 7-12) will meet from 1:30-4:00. A parent is required to stay for the first half hour of the meeting to talk about the upcoming year. There will be snacks at this meeting. Please RSVP so we know you are coming.
Both meetings will be held at Confidential Shredding, 17 Hampshire Drive, Unit 14 in Hudson.
SIBS NH offers sibling support groups to children and youth in first through twelfth grade with a brother or sister that experience developmental disabilities, chronic health conditions, mental illness, physical disabilities and/or learning disabilities.
The groups offer a chance for sibs to get together and share a time of fun and support. It is an opportunity to talk with peers who have the same fears, questions and mixed feelings about their sibling and/or disability.
This program provides a chance to obtain reliable information on their sibling’s special needs, to talk with each other without the worry that they may upset someone, and the comfort of knowing that they are not the only one feeling happy, angry or confused about their sibling.
SIBS NH helps children develop coping skills for both dealings with their brother or sister and other children. It is a time to develop empathy and tolerance and teaches and understanding that life can be good even when it is not perfect. Children are able to express themselves in their own special time and empower each other to speak to their own needs as well as that of their sibling
